WHO ARE WE?
WE HAVE REPRESENTED THE UK IN CHINA IN TAI CHI EXHIBITIONS 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007
We are based in Bury near Manchester in the UK
We are affiliated to Tai Chi Schools in Nantong, Shanghai, Ganyu, Guanyun and Lianyungang (Jiangsu Province, China)
We are students of Authentic Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, under the system taught by Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei.
THE BRITISH CHEN STYLE TAI CHI COLLEGE came into being on 1st September 2000, at the suggestion of Master Liu Yong. Liu Yong is an Indoor Student of Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei. In March 2000 Liu Yong came to visit England for five months and recognised a need for a Tai Chi School to teach Authentic Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan. From small beginnings the College continues to expand with students from as far as Mexico, Italy and Turkey now having trained with us!
In 2002 Master Liu Yong accepted the position of "Honorary President" and he continues to build strong links between Chinese Tai Chi students and their British counterparts. British students visit China to train with him every year, and he comes to teach here in the UK.
PRINCIPAL INSTRUCTOR, MASTER SUE JOHNSON
Tai Chi Master Sue Johnson has been practising Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan since 1990. Master Liu Yong recommended that Sue start the "British Chen Style Tai Chi College" as she had both the knowledge and the experience. She has trained extensivly with both Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang and Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei. She took part in the First International Advanced Training Course in Handan, Hebei in 1999 and the Third International Training Course in Zhengzhou in 2001.
She has been teaching Tai Chi Chuan since 1994, in and around the Manchester area, and holds the City & Guilds Adult and Further Education Teaching Certificate (7307).
She trains annualy in China to maintain her own standard, and that of her students.
Sue is the only British instructor to be featured in Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei's new book!
Sue Johnson has been a student of Master Liu Yong since 1999.
To develop Tai Chi skill the teacher needs to build a close relationship with the student so that the teacher knows exactly how to meet the student's needs. Sue has trained constantly with Master Liu Yong both in England and in China. As a result Sue's standard of skill was recognised when in 2003, she was appointed the position of "Coach and Consultant" to the Manlian Tai Chi Club in Lianyungang, China!
WILD GOOSE QIGONG
Sue Johnson is an Authorised Instructor and has practised the Wild Goose Qigong system since 1990. She is a student of Dr Bingkun Hu, who studied the Wild Goose system directly from the 27th Generation inheritor Grandmaster Yang Mei-Jun. It was the wish of Grandmaster Yang Mei-jun (who died at the age of 106) that the Wild Goose system be made available throughout the world. Dr Hu annually visits the UK from his California home to promote and maintain the standard of the Wild Goose Qigong in the UK. Sue Johnson currently teaches it in week-end workshops. Regular weekly classes will start in November 2007.
Wild Goose Qigong dates back to the Jin Dynasty. Containing both vigorous and gentle movements, it opens the acu-points and stimulates the Qi flow through the meridians. It strengthens the 5 yin organs, the liver, spleen, heart, lungs and kidneys. Wild Goose Qigong is suitable for all ages and abilities.

MAN LIAN TAI CHI CLUB
Man Lian Tai Chi Club opened in Lianyungang, China in August 2003. Master Liu Yong is the President of the club, which has grown from strength to strength. It now has branches in Shanghai, Nantong, Tongzhou, Nanjing, Beijing,and other cities in China. Students from China and abroad can all train here under the watchful eye of Master Liu Yong!
As well as the British Chen Style Tai Chi College, The MAN LIAN TAI CHI CLUB INTERNATIONAL also includes branches in Bangalore India, in Sri Lanka, in Istanbul Turkey, in Bangkok Thailand, in the South of England in Bournemouth, and also in Canada and America.
In 2003 Master Liu Yong and Sue Johnson started a new venture, the "EAST WEST CULTURAL EXCHANGE CENTRE" This will help to develop a deeper understanding of Chinese Culture including Calligraphy, painting, music, TCM and even Beijing Opera! Many Tai Chi students find an interest for other related aspects of Chinese Culture and this will enable them to access a wealth of knowledge in China!
